CPCU Society Announces May Educational Events

The CPCU Society has released details of its Educational programs for May 2004.

The organization noted that “all workshops are open to CPCUs and other insurance professionals, and provide the opportunity for professional development and networking. Most workshops have been filed for continuing education credits.”

It listed the sessions as follows :
Toxic Mold: Where is the Coverage?, a half-day workshop presented by the CPCU Society and sponsored by the Society’s Syracuse Chapter.

What: R. Bryan Tilden, CPCU, CLU, a national lecturer and expert witness in the insurance field, will:
— Discuss what “toxic mold” is.
— Explore how property is damaged from mold
— Explain when the mold loss occurs
— Discuss the insurance issues involving mold in both personal and commercial lines policies.
— Introduce the new policy forms and endorsements that limit or eliminate coverage for mold.
Registration for Toxic Mold is $89 for CPCU Society members and $99 for nonmembers.

Effective Use of Contractual Transfers, a half-day workshop presented by the CPCU Society and co-sponsored by the Society’s District of Columbia Chapter.

What: Richard G. Rudolph, Ph.D., CPCU, a writer and speaker on a wide array of insurance subjects will:
— Explain the underlying reasons for risk transfers through indemnification agreements, contractual liability, and insurance policies, with suggestions for appropriate alternatives.
— Identify common problems associated with contractual risk transfers.
— Discuss how to maximize or minimize the effectiveness of contractual transfers and additional insured status.
— Explain how to construct insurance policies to comply with contractual requirements and avoid problems.
— Identify documentation issues regarding contractual transfer.
Registration for Effective Use of Contractual Transfers is $89 for CPCU Society members and $99 for nonmembers.

Hidden Coverages: Surprises in Court!, a half-day workshop in Branchville, NJ sponsored by the CPCU Society’s New Jersey Chapter.
