Lighthouse Underwriters Adds Workers’ Comp to ElderCare Program

August 22, 2005

Lighthouse Underwriters LLC (www.lighthouseunderwriters.com), a program underwriting company that works with select industry groups, has expanded its ElderCare insurance program with a new workers’ compensation program for assisted living, continuing care retirement communities (CCRCs) and nursing homes.

The workers’ comp product is underwritten by The PMA Insurance Group, rated A- (excellent) by A.M. Best. It will be rolled out initially in Maryland, Pennsylvania and Virginia, with more states added in the coming months.

Coverage can be written on a mono-line basis or as a package with Eldercare’s other coverages for assisted living and nursing homes. In addition to the workers’ comp coverage, PMA provides expert risk management services to reduce the cost of insurance.

“With the addition of the PMA workers’ compensation product, brokers and agents in Maryland, Pennsylvania and Virginia now have the ability to place all lines of their long-term care business through the ElderCare program at Lighthouse Underwriters,” said Saye Gbalazeh, ElderCare program director. “This product is ideal for larger facilities with minimum premiums of $100,000 and offers agents competitive rates and quick turnaround.”

In addition to the new workers’ comp product, ElderCare offers a package of coverages tailored to the specific needs of long-term care facilities, including general liability, professional liability, auto and excess coverage.

Agents and brokers seeking more information on Eldercare should contact Gbalazeh at 703-770-3700, ext. 308, or e-mail: sgbalazeh@lighthouseunderwriters.com.
