The former president of the Professional Insurance Agents of New Jersey has been elected to the board of directors for the trade group’s national association.
Andrew C. Harris will represent New Jersey’s independent insurance agents on a national level as part of his three-year term which begins today. He brings more than 30 years experience to his new role with PIA. He is president of Liberty Insurance Associates of Englishtown, N.J., as well as its two wholly owned subsidiaries: Liberty Consulting Co. and Liberty Life Associates.
A PIANJ member for more than 20 years, Harris has been active in association activities and received several distinctions from his peers. In 1996, he was selected as Agent of the Year, receiving a joint resolution from the New Jersey Senate and Assembly recognizing the achievement. He served as PIANJ’s president from 1998 to 1999 and received the association’s Distinguished Insurance Service award in 2006.
At the state level, Harris recently was appointed by the commissioner of the Department of Banking and Insurance to its Disaster Response Development Group. Additionally, he is an active member of the DOBI’s Study Commission and the New Jersey Insurance Commissioner’s Insurance Education Advisory Committee. Harris also was chairman of and continues to serve on the Commissioner’s Producer Advisory Council and has served on the DOBI’s Board of Governors of the Windstorm Marketing Assistance Plan.
