A year after New Hampshire established permanent speed limits on its largest lake, lawmakers are considering repealing them.
The Senate is considering a bill that replaces a daytime speed limit on Lake Winnipesaukee of 45 mph and the nighttime limit of 30 mph with a law that says boaters shall proceed at a safe, reasonable and prudent speed.
The bill includes a list of criteria ranging from visibility to the ability to stop as factors that should be taken into account when travelling on the lake.
