Insurance Industry Charitable Foundation to Host Benefit Dinner

October 27, 2011

The Insurance Industry Charitable Foundation (IICF) New York/Northeast division will hold its 2011 benefit dinner on Dec. 14.

“There are so many people in need in our area, and, in spite of the economy, the insurance industry continues to respond generously to our communities,” said Betsy Myatt, executive director at the foundation.

Paul Krump, president of Chubb Commercial & Specialty Insurance, is the dinner chairman. Event proceeds go to the IICF grants program.

The event will feature television journalist Katie Couric as a special guest speaker. Couric is host of “Katie,” a new ABC talk show. She is also an ABC News contributor and co-founder of The Jay Monahan Center for Gastrointestinal Health.

Three invitees will serve as grant presenters at the fundraising event:

• General Richard Myers, USAF, Retired, former chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff.

• Denis Leary, actor, comedian, author, and founder of the Leary Firefighters Foundation.

• Archie Manning, a former football quarterback in the National Football League.

Manning will present Zurich Financial Services with the 2011 ‘Double I’ award for influence in the industry and impact in the community. Accepting the honor will be Mike Foley, chief executive officer, North America commercial and regional chairman of the Americas.

The event will be held at the Waldorf-Astoria Hotel in New York City. The dinner, now in its fifth year, is the premier insurance event in the New York tri-state area and is attended by 900 insurance industry leaders.

IICF was established in 1994 and is directed and funded by the insurance industry. Since its inception in 1994, the foundation has contributed over $16 million in grants to charities and 140,000 volunteer hours to hundreds of community nonprofit organizations.
