The Federal Emergency Management Agency says there are only eight days left for New Yorkers affected by Hurricane Irene and Tropical Storm Lee to register for possible federal disaster assistance.
Dec. 15 is the registration deadline for a wide range of assistance. FEMA coordinating officer Philip Parr says registering allows people to keep open the possibility of assistance in case their insurance coverage comes up short or other damage shows up later.
FEMA aid is available to residents and business owners in 34 eastern New York counties included in the federal disaster declaration for Hurricane Irene and Tropical Storm Lee.
To register, call the FEMA Helpline at 800-621-3362, or register online at www.DisasterAssistance.gov.
