N.H. Governor Signs Bill on Limits on Landowner Liability

August 15, 2012

New Hampshire landowners who let the public use their land for hunting, hiking and other recreational activities aren’t required to keep their land safe under a bill signed by Gov. John Lynch.

The law expands liability protection for those who own, lease, or manage land open to hunting, fishing, trapping, camping and other recreational activities. The law does not protect landowners from malicious acts.

It was prompted by a lawsuit that was later dropped by a Manchester man hurt while scouting hunting locations in Epsom in 2009. Gov. Lynch signed the law Tuesday at the Statehouse.
