Authorities in Monmouth County, New Jersey, have accused a psychologist of submitting approximately 120 fraudulent insurance claims totaling more than $15,000.
Prosecutors have charged 62-year-old Edward Merski of Old Bridge with health care claims fraud, insurance fraud, theft by deception and witness tampering.
Authorities say Merski offered money to two patients in exchange for dropping a civil lawsuit which could have exposed the fraudulent billing practices.
Merski is free on $50,000 bail. It’s not clear if he has a lawyer.
