Maine’s MEMIC Group Announces Senior Promotions

The MEMIC Group, a workers’ compensation insurer based in Portland, Maine, announced the following senior promotions.

Gregory Jamison has been promoted to senior vice president of underwriting. A 29-year veteran of the insurance industry, Jamison joined MEMIC in 2002 as underwriter for Alternative Markets and was then promoted to executive underwriter. In 2007, he assumed the new post of assistant vice president of underwriting and was promoted to vice president of underwriting in 2014. In his new position, Jamison will oversee the group’s writings in Maine as well as the underwriting department’s administrative function areas.

Jeff Funk has been promoted to president of the Northeast Region. With 32 years of property/casualty insurance experience, Funk joined The MEMIC Group as an executive underwriter in 2006 with the responsibility of growing and developing the Connecticut and upstate New York territories. He was promoted to the position of assistant vice president in 2012 and vice president in 2014. He leads the continued development of business for the Northeast Region, including New York, Connecticut, Rhode Island, Massachusetts, Vermont and New Hampshire.

Tod Austin has been promoted to president of the Atlantic Region. Austin worked for more than 30 years in the independent agency and brokerage business before joining The MEMIC Group in 2014 as vice president of underwriting. Austin leads The MEMIC Group’s growth plans for the Atlantic Region, including New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Maryland, Virginia and Florida.

Matthew Harmon has been promoted to senior vice president of claims. With more than 20 years of claims experience, Harmon will oversee all claim-related activities for The MEMIC Group in his new role as senior vice president of claims. He replaces John F. Marr who is retiring after 22 years of service with MEMIC. Harmon was previously promoted to director of MEMIC Indemnity Claim Operations in 2005, where he was responsible for overseeing all claim-related activities at MEMIC Indemnity Company, and vice president of claims in 2014.

Karl Siegfried has been promoted to senior vice president of loss control and safety services. Siegfried joined MEMIC in 1998 as an ergonomist in the Loss Control Department after more than a decade in the safety and health field at General Dynamics’ shipbuilder Bath Iron Works. He was later promoted to director of Loss Control and in 2010 was promoted to assistant vice president of loss control and safety services for The MEMIC Group, where he oversees all loss control operations including its safety training and customer service efforts.

The MEMIC Group holds licenses to write workers’ compensation in 46 states plus the District of Columbia. The group insures more than 20,000 employers and their estimated 300,000 employees, and holds more than $1 billion in assets.
