Ames & Gough, an insurance broker and risk management consultant specializing in serving design professionals, law firms, associations/nonprofits and other professional service firms, hired Jay Bateson as senior broker and vice president.
Based in Ames & Gough’s McLean, Virginia, office, Bateson will be responsible for placing property/casualty, management liability and professional liability insurance for several of the firm’s larger clients. He will also assist with training more junior staff, building insurer relationships and providing risk management support to clients.
Bateson has nearly three decades of experience in insurance brokerage, most recently with CBIZ Insurance Services in Columbia, Maryland, where he was senior vice president and regional placement officer. He joined a predecessor firm to CBIZ in 1988 and held a variety of positions of increasing responsibility in commercial insurance brokerage, sales and management.
Bateson began his insurance career in 1986 with WR Schinnerer Company, a Washington, D.C., insurance agency, where he served as a personal lines sales manager. Bateson holds the Chartered Property Casualty Underwriter (CPCU) and Registered Professional Liability Underwriter (RPLU) professional designations.
