Clearwater, Florida-based Heritage Property & Casualty Insurance Company has hired Peter J. Hutchinson as director of sales and marketing for Massachusetts and Rhode Island, a new position. He is based in Westfield, Massachusetts.
In this new role, Hutchinson will spearhead Heritage’s move into Massachusetts and Rhode Island. Heritage has applied to expand into these two states in July and its applications with insurance departments are currently pending. The company said it’s hopeful that it can begin writing in both states in the first half of 2016.
Hutchinson brings more than 30 years of experience working with independent agents in Massachusetts and Rhode Island. He most recently served as director of sales for UPC Insurance.
Heritage writes homeowners, dwelling fire and commercial residential insurance policies throughout the state of Florida. Heritage recently announced that it is acquiring Zephyr Insurance Company, which writes wind-only business in Hawaii. In addition, Heritage has been approved to write property/casualty insurance policies in North Carolina and expects to commence business there early in 2016. The company also has an application pending in South Carolina.
