Westminster American Insurance Company (WAIC) has hired David Whelan as vice president of underwriting.
In this new role, Whelan brings 31 years of commercial lines experience to the team. He joins WAIC from GNY Insurance Companies, where he was a vice president and branch manager for the company’s Connecticut and upstate New York territories.

With WAIC, Whelan will be directing the underwriting staff and strategy.
Headquartered in Owing Mills, Md., WAIC is an insurer of commercial real estate in the Mid-Atlantic, offering business owner’s, commercial package and commercial umbrella policies.
