People Moves: Promotions at A.I.M. Mutual, Merchants; Fred C. Church Hires Thompson

A.I.M. Mutual Names Landers as Vice President, Chief Operating Officer

A.I.M. Mutual’s board of directors elected Daniel Landers as vice president and chief operating officer, effective October 1. In this capacity, he continues to report to President and CEO Michael Standing.

As COO, Landers will oversee day-to-day operations and continue to manage sales and marketing for A.I.M. Mutual. Previously, he was vice president of sales and marketing. He has been with the company since 2002, holding positions as director of field operations, director of marketing and regional manager in New Hampshire.

In addition, Paul Kehoe, vice president and chief financial officer, is taking on an expanded role in which he is now responsible for human resources as well as the finance and compliance functions. Kehoe has served as vice president and CFO since 2015 and continues to report to Standing.

These appointments streamline operations at the executive level, positioning the company to effectively service an expanded New England territory. A.I.M. Mutual is a Burlington, Massachusetts-based regional workers’ compensation insurance carrier based in Massachusetts, insuring more than 18,000 businesses.

Merchants Insurance Group Promotes Ruhland to Assistant Vice President, Controller

Merchants Insurance Group promoted Controller Patricia Ruhland to assistant vice president and controller.

Ruhland began working with Merchants in 2011 as accounting operations manager and was then promoted to assistant controller in 2012, and finally to controller in 2020 before this promotion. In her new position as assistant vice president and controller, Ruhland will participate in management strategic planning meetings, annual reinsurance renewal sessions, AM Best presentations and board committee meetings.

Before joining Merchants, Ruhland was the controller for a local manufacturing company and had also worked for several years in local public accounting firms.

Fred C. Church Insurance Hires Thompson to Insurance, Risk Management Team

Fred C. Church Insurance welcomed George Thompson to its insurance and risk management team.

Thompson was hired as senior counsel and vice president of compliance and will have responsibility for addressing the health care reform regulatory and employee benefit compliance needs of Fred C. Church employee benefits clients.

Thompson arrives at Fred C. Church after almost a decade at Marsh McLennan Agency of New England, where he served most recently as vice president of employee benefit compliance.
