Risk Strategies Adds to Private Client Services Team

Boston-based specialty insurance brokerage Risk Strategies announced two hires in its Private Client Services practice. Tim deRosa has joined as chief operating officer, Private Client Services, and Eric Massi as senior vice president, West region leader, Private Client Services.

DeRosa will be focused on operational efficiencies as well as working alongside Alison Murphy, National practice leader, Private Client Services, to drive growth nationally. In addition, he will be responsible for integration of new acquisitions, process optimization and service delivery for private client service clients.

Massi will be responsible for the leadership of business in the West and developing growth strategies including producer recruitment, geographical expansion into new states and increased brand awareness. He will also be charged with oversight of operational efficiencies and engagement with insurance carriers.

DeRosa comes to Risk Strategies with over 20 years of experience in the insurance industry, primarily serving the private client market. Prior to joining Risk Strategies, deRosa worked on both the carrier and wholesale sides of the business, first at Chubb where he held several executive level positions in both underwriting and marketing, and later founding Platinum Partners Insurance Services, a national wholesale insurance brokerage. When deRosa sold Platinum Partners, he served as executive vice president and head of Orchid Insurance’s private client team, as well as oversaw marketing and communications and the firm’s strategic partnerships.

Massi joins Risk Strategies with more than 18 years of experience developing and managing risk management programs for ultra-high-net-worth individuals and family offices. He most recently served as a risk advisor in the Private Client Group at Willis Towers Watson. Prior to that, Massi spent time at Marsh and Countrywide Insurance Services.

Risk Strategies has more than 100 offices.

Frederick Mutual Promotes Price, White to Executive Staff

Sharon Price, an employee of over 25 years for Frederick Mutual, has been promoted to vice president of Underwriting. Over the course of her 25 years at Frederick Mutual, Price has served in various roles including commercial lines underwriter and assistant vice president of Commercial Lines.

Erica Cox White, promoted to assistant vice president, Human Resources and Operations director. White joined Frederick Mutual in 2018 as communications coordinator and executive assistant. She was promoted to HR specialist and executive coordinator in January 2020.

Frederick Mutual serves policyholders in Maryland, Pennsylvania, Virginia, Delaware, D.C., North Carolina, and South Carolina.

MEMIC Adds 3 Regional Underwriters

The MEMIC Group has hired three regional underwriters.

Heidi L. Carter has been hired as senior production underwriter in eastern and downstate New York, responsible for renewals and new business.

Bryant O. Turner is now senior production underwriter in the Southeast region.

Matthew Raynard is an express production underwriter in the New England marketplace, targeting new business accounts under $50,000 in premium.

Carter has spent a majority of her career specializing in workers’ compensation and comes to MEMIC with nearly three decades of experience handling multi-lines, including claims and risk management. Her past positions include seven years as an account executive for First Cardinal, managing workers’ compensation group self-insured trusts in New York state; and 10 years as senior underwriter managing numerous territories in New York, including New York City and Long Island, for Amtrust Financial.

Turner comes to MEMIC with nearly two decades of experience in financial and underwriting roles, including as business development underwriter for ICW Group Insurance Companies in San Diego, California; inside sales executive and senior account manager for Travelers Insurance in Chantilly, Virginia; allied healthcare underwriter for Hanover Insurance Group in Reston, Virginia; and other underwriting roles throughout the Southeast.

Raynard began his career at Travelers Insurance as a subrogation specialist. After five years at Travelers, he transitioned to underwriting at First Comp Markel, where he wrote workers’ compensation accounts and was promoted twice: first to strategic partner underwriter and then to senior strategic partner underwriter, helping build First Comp Markel’s Northeast book from a few million to over $12 million in just two years. Later, he moved to AmeriTrust Insurance as a senior underwriter before joining Method Insurance.
