Donegal Names Sponic to Lead Personal Lines

David W. Sponic has been named senior vice president of personal lines by Donegal Insurance Group.

Sponic succeeds Jeff Jacobsen, who the company said will transition into an advisory role leading up to his retirement in early 2023 after more than 40 years in the insurance industry – including three decades with Donegal.

Sponic previously led Donegal’s personal lines marketing and home office underwriting operations. He began his career with Donegal in 1990 as a personal lines underwriter and, in the decades since, has been involved in nearly every strategic personal lines initiative. including the introduction of a new suite of personal lines products, a new agency portal and a new policy administration system.

He will be based in Donegal’s Marietta, Pennsylvania home office.

Donegal Group Inc. and its subsidiaries offer commercial and personal property/casualty insurance in 24 Mid-Atlantic, Midwestern, New England, Southern and Southwestern states.

Mullan Joins Risk Strategies as Chief Human Resources Officer

Specialty insurance broker Risk Strategies announced that Amanda Mullan has joined the firm as chief human resources officer. Mullan will oversee the company’s human resource function including talent acquisition and development, human resource benefits and operations, employee relations and overall total employee engagement across the company.

Mullan has more than 20 years of experience leading human capital initiatives. Most recently she was senior vice president and chief human resources officer at New Jersey Resources (NJR) where she was responsible for programs to maximize the potential of its workforce. She also led customer and community relations, diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives, and was the chair of its Corporate Sustainability Council. Prior to NJR, Mullan served as director and senior vice president of human resources in North America for insurance broker Willis Group Holdings. She has also held senior human resource leadership roles at Dun & Bradstreet, Realogy Title Group and Prudential.

Coaction Appoints Edmonds Chief Actuarial Officer

New Jersey-based specialty property/casualty insurer Coaction Global has named Ellen Edmonds as chief actuarial officer.

She joins Coaction with more than 30 years of experience across reserving, pricing, and financial reporting. Most recently, Edmonds served as senior vice president and chief reserving actuary at Everest RE, following a career of roles with increasing responsibility at Everest, Crum & Forster, and Reliance Insurance Co.

Edmonds will report to Coaction Chief Executive Officer Jonathan Ritz.

Lee Lloyd, Coaction’s current chief actuarial officer will return to underwriting, reporting to Chris Dougherty, chief underwriting officer.
