People Moves: McDonnell Succeeds Bridge as President of Vermont Mutual

The Vermont Mutual board of directors named Mark J. McDonnell president of Vermont Mutual Insurance Group. McDonnell is the 18th president, succeeding former president and current CEO Daniel C. Bridge, who will retire at the end of 2024.

McDonnell joined Vermont Mutual, headquartered in Montpelier, Vermont, as a senior vice president in April 2014 and was promoted to executive vice president and chief operating officer in July 2015. Prior to joining Vermont Mutual, he served as vice president, national personal lines sales, Tower Group Companies and vice president of marketing at Adirondack Insurance/New Jersey Skylands (OneBeacon).

Daniel C. Bridge

Bridge, who is the current board chair, has spent over 40 years in the insurance industry. He joined Vermont Mutual in 2009 and was named president in 2015.
