LOMA Introduces Global Online Learning

LOMA, an international association of insurance and financial services companies based in Atlanta, Ga., announced plans to establish a global online learning environment to meet the industry educational needs for insurance and financial services professionals from all countries. World renowned for providing some of the industry’s best and highest quality targeted learning materials, LOMA already offers its print-based educational programs in five languages in over 60 countries throughout the world. This new global distance learning initiative will allow LOMA to develop web-based education for the world market. To achieve this goal, LOMA has formed alliances with two online education providers — Life Instructors, Inc., the New Providence, NJ, training technology company based unit of Fiserv, and The Global Institute for Financial and Educational Services, LLC, an international venture formed by InterContinental Marketing Systems, Inc. (The ICMS Group) and strategic and technology partners from the industry worldwide. These new alliances will permit LOMA to reach more customers while also taking advantage of each partner’s state-of-the-art educational delivery systems. “Using the Internet to make our courses available to a broader audience of employee groups, who today are geographically dispersed, is a natural expansion of our member services,” notes LOMA President and CEO Thomas P. Donaldson, FLMI, CLU. “We expect new distance learning technologies to allow us to make even higher quality training available to all our members and their employees in a more efficient and cost effective manner. We’ll soon introduce LOMALearn Online-a ‘virtual university’ with online courses on core elements of financial services education. This ‘anytime, anywhere’ learning will be available on the Internet this fall.” LOMALearn Online will be a privately branded LOMA site offering courses for U.S. and Canadian students.
