Zurich Renames London Branch; Martin Appointed to Head Unit

Zurich Financial Services Group announced that effective Jan. 31, 2005 Zurich London has been renamed “Zurich Global Corporate UK.”

Zurich noted that the change “is in line with the strategic direction announced in April 2004 and the subsequent corporate reorganization that created a new Global Corporate Business Division under the leadership of Geoff Riddell.”

Markus Hongler, CEO of Global Corporate in Europe commented: “Building on from our success serving customers in London, we are now able to offer our proposition to corporate customers throughout the UK as well. Global Corporate UK will continue to offer long-term partnerships and a consistently high standard of service that remain our core values.”

In a separate bulletin Zurich announced that David Martin will join the company as managing director of Global Corporate UK, effective March 29, 2005. He succeeds Alan Fairhead who was recently appointed chief underwriting officer of Global Corporate.

Zurich said Martin “will be responsible for implementing the Global Corporate strategy in the UK and for further developing Global Corporate UK as a center for corporate customers. He will be a member of the Executive Management Team of Global Corporate in Europe and of the General Business Executive Committee in the United Kingdom.” He joins Zurich after many years with Aon.
