February 6, 2007

Marsh Ltd., the international broker’s UK division, announced that Sir David Brewer CMG, until recently Lord Mayor of London, is to fill the newly created role of Non-Executive Vice Chairman, subject to the approval of the Financial Services Authority.

“Sir David began his long and distinguished career in the insurance industry in 1959 with Sedgwick Collins, later Marsh,” said the bulletin. “In 1976 he went to Tokyo to open the Sedgwick Group’s office there. He was later responsible for setting up the group office in China in 1981, opened a representative office in Mumbai in 1986 and obtained the first broker’s authorization in China in 1993. He has, for a number of years, worked as a Consultant to Marsh on the Asian region.”

He was elected an Alderman of the City of London in 1996, a Sheriff of the City of London in 2002 and served as Lord Mayor for 2005-2006. He is currently the President of the Insurance Institute of London.

Welcoming him to the Board, Alex Moczarski, CEO of Marsh in Europe, the Middle East and Africa, stated: “Marsh UK is fortunate to have attracted an industry leader of David’s stature. His experience gained across a broad range of activities, particularly in developing new markets, will be tremendously helpful as we drive our growth strategy. In addition, his much-respected incisiveness and integrity make him a natural choice for this new position.”

Brewer commented: “I have the deepest affection for the company I joined 48 years ago. As the world’s leading insurance broker and risk adviser Marsh has exciting plans that are geared to meeting the evolving needs of its clients. I look forward to working with Marsh’s experienced UK team to achieve its goals.”
