Max Re Board Changes

Bermuda-based Max Re Capital Ltd. announced the appointment of Mr. K. Bruce Connell to the Company’s Board of Directors on February 9, 2007. The Company also announced the nomination of Mr. Gordon F. Cheesbrough for election to the Board at the Company’s annual general meeting of shareholders in May.

Chairman and CEO W. Marston Becker noted that both men are industry veterans, who will bring “valuable experience and insights to the Max Re Board.”

Connell retired in 2002 after spending 13 years with the XL Capital organization. During his tenure with XL, Mr. Connell served as Executive VP and Group Underwriting Officer of XL Capital Ltd., CEO of XL Financial Products and Services Ltd., Executive VP and Chief Underwriting Officer of XL Re Ltd. (Bermuda), and Chief Underwriting Officer of XL Europe Ltd.

Cheesbrough is the managing partner of Blair Franklin Capital Partners, Inc., an independent financial advisory firm that he co-founded in 2003. He is also a member of the board of directors of Canadian Tire Corporation and Chairman of the board of governors of North York General Hospital. From 1998 to 2002, Cheesbrough was President and CEO of Altamira Investment Services Inc.

Max Re also announced that John R. Barber, a current director whose term expires in May, has indicated his intention not to run for re-election. He has been a Director since 2002. Becker thanked him for his “valuable contribution to the Company during the period he has been with us,” and wished him well “in his future endeavors.”
