Berkley Insurance Company, a member company of W. R. Berkley Corporation, announced that it will be filing an application with the Australian Prudential Regulatory Authority (APRA) to establish a reinsurance branch in Australia.
The new facility, Berkley Re Australia, will be headquartered in Sydney. It will focus primarily on underwriting casualty facultative and treaty reinsurance upon receiving approval from APRA.
Grant Robson has been named president and CEO, pending the regulatory approval. He has over 34 years of experience in the insurance and reinsurance business in Australia.
Robson previously served in senior positions with major reinsurers including, most recently, as President and CEO of GE Insurance Solutions for the Asia Pacific Region.
