The Bermuda-based Catlin Group Limited has announced the following reorganization in the leadership of its Asia-Pacific operations:
— With effect from May 1, Mark Newman joined Catlin as CEO of the Asia-Pacific Region, based in the Singapore office.
— Bobby Heerasing will continue as Head of the Group’s Singapore office and will also assume broader regional underwriting responsibilities as the Underwriting Director for Asia-Pacific.
— Jason Smith will lead the Hong Kong office, succeeding Neil Wray who has recently left Catlin.
Newman previously held positions with Guy Carpenter and Marsh and has significant experience in the region, having worked in both Tokyo and Singapore for the past eight years with regional management responsibilities across all business classes. In his new role, he takes over management responsibility for Catlin’s operations in Hong Kong, Singapore, Kuala Lumpur, Shanghai and Sydney.
Smith joined the Catlin last year as a class underwriter. He has significant facultative and treaty reinsurance experience throughout the region. He will be responsible for the Group’s growth plans for North Asia.
