Quy Joins Lockton Construction Team

Lockton’s reinsurance division has appointed Michael Quy as Executive Director responsible for developing the global insurance broker’s specialist Engineering & Construction treaty reinsurance team. He will reestablish an old partnership in London with former colleague Julian Wood to diversify Lockton’s global product range in the highly specialized sector.

Quy began his 40-year career in insurance as an underwriter of engineering risks with British Engine in 1967. Until 1997 he held senior underwriting positions dedicated to the engineering and construction class. He joined Willis Re in 1997 on the specialist engineering and construction reinsurance team. In 2001 he was promoted to lead that team and eventually headed up the global Engineering and Construction Practice Group for Willis Re when it was formed in 2005.

Joining up with Wood expands Lockton’s capacity to “orchestrate complex reinsurance placements for portfolios of risks using treaty reinsurance structures,” noted Lockton Re’s Managing Director, Stephen Hitchcock. “Further additions to the reinsurance treaty team – including the recruitment of an engineering graduate – will be made to attract and service the needs of clients,” he added.
