Marsh India Promotes Kedia to CEO, Country Manager

August 12, 2008

Marsh has announced the promotion of Sanjay Kedia to CEO and Country Manager for Marsh India Insurance Brokers Private Limited (Marsh India). He takes over from Jonathan Bitcheno, who has retired to his native New Zealand after nearly 30 years with Marsh.

Alan Cheah, Marsh’s CEO Asia, praised Kedia’s abilities in assuming the new post, indicating his especially “deep knowledge of the Indian market and local experience.” He also noted that selecting a local resident for the top spot in India “highlights the depth of talent in our management team across the region and our focus on succession planning and career development.”

Cheah also extended “sincere thanks to Jonathan on behalf of all my colleagues throughout Asia. He has done an outstanding job of developing one of our most important markets. We wish him all the best for his return to New Zealand.”

Kedia started his career with Marsh in November 2002, and was the first Indian business employee of Marsh in India. He became Principal Officer in March 2003 when Marsh India was the first foreign broker to receive an insurance broking license as a composite broker in India. His experience spans insurance, reinsurance and banking, with a focus on natural resources, energy and infrastructure.

Kedia said he is looking “forward to the challenge of continuing to develop Marsh as the leading insurance broker and risk advisor in India.” He also noted that the “Indian insurance market continues to change at a rapid pace.”
