Allied World Names D’Orazio Chief Underwriter; Bell Operating and Admin.

Allied World Assurance Company Holdings has announced two senior management promotions.

Frank D’Orazio has been named Chief Underwriting Officer of Allied World Assurance Company, its Bermuda insurance subsidiary, from his most recent position of Senior Vice President, Global Product Line Manager, General Casualty. He will continue to be based in Bermuda.

David Bell will become the Chief Operating and Administrative Officer of Allied World Assurance from his most recent position of Senior Vice President, Global Product Line Manager, Professional Liability. He also will continue to be based in Bermuda.

“D’Orazio will oversee the organization’s casualty, professional lines, healthcare and property underwriting departments in Bermuda, Europe and Asia, and will be responsible for overseeing underwriting quality, guidelines and authorities,” said the bulletin. “He will also assist in developing and implementing strategic initiatives and expanding product capabilities for the Bermuda and International platforms of Allied World.”

He joined Allied World in June of 2003 as a Vice President and managed the company’s general casualty operations in Bermuda, which serves primarily large commercial North American clients. During 2005, D’Orazio assumed additional management responsibilities over the company’s European general casualty operations in London and Dublin, which caters to large European and international accounts, and oversaw the creation of a U.S. general casualty platform, which delivers excess liability solutions to the company’s North American middle market clients. He assumed the role of Senior Advisor to the company’s Healthcare operations in late 2006.

“Bell will plan and direct all aspects of the organization’s operations and strategic processes, procedures and controls,” Allied Said. “He will implement and manage projects developed in conjunction with the President and Chief Executive Officer to attain both short and long-term operational and strategic goals for the Bermuda and international operations of Allied World.”

Bell began working with Allied World in February of 2002 when he started the company’s professional lines division. Previously, he worked with Chubb Insurance where he managed the professional lines operations in the Florida region, in addition to overseeing Chubb’s corporate lobbying efforts in Florida, he is also active within the nonprofit community, serving as President Elect of PLUS (Professional Liability Underwriting Society).

Allied World’s Chairman, President and CEO, Scott Carmilani, complimented both men for their past achievements, and expressed his belief that they will continue to be valuable members of Allied World’s management team
