Lockton Celebrates Opening of Shanghai Office

Lockton has celebrated the granting of its Wholly Owned Foreign Enterprise (WOFE) insurance brokerage license to operate in China with a Grand Opening of its new Shanghai office. The license was granted earlier this year (See IJ web site – https://www.insurancejournal.com/news/international/2008/09/08/93439.htm).

“As well as Lockton Associates, friends and clients, invitees included the Chinese Government, the China Insurance Regulatory Commission and its Shanghai Bureau, the Shanghai government and Financial office, and the Pudong government and Financial office,” said the announcement.

Key dignitaries included: Julian James, CEO of Lockton International, Stuart Fraser, Chairman of the Policy and Resources Committee of the City of London, Carma Elliot, British Consul General Shanghai, Li Feng, Vice-Director, CIRC Shanghai and Shi Haining, of the Pudong Financial Services Authority.

James commented: “It is a great honor to be awarded a WOFE insurance brokerage license in China – only the second company to achieve this distinction. We really appreciate this opportunity to be part of China’s exciting future and also to introduce our international risk management and insurance brokerage experience.”
