Marsh Launches Public Sector Practice for Scotland

December 10, 2008

Marsh announced that it has launched a dedicated Public Sector Practice in Scotland to help the country’s public sector organizations address their unique risk and insurance issues.

Marsh said its “Scottish Public Sector Practice team has a wide range of public sector clients in Aberdeen, Edinburgh and Glasgow, such as local authorities, fire and police authorities, social housing, central government and government agencies to which they provide risk management and insurance advice.”

Gordon McLagan, Leader of the Scottish Public Sector Practice, commented: “The recession is creating its own set of risks of public sector organizations. For example, many budgets and revenues have been squeezed yet efficiency targets remain, and organizations still need to find innovative ways of delivering services which will have a positive impact on the communities which they serve.

“As well as UK law, Scottish public sector organizations are also subject to legislation from the Scottish Government on diverse issues such as health and safety, healthcare reform and education,” he continued. “This creates another layer of unique risk for Scottish public sector organizations.

“Marsh is committed to providing the highest professional standards to our public sector clients in Scotland. With the establishment of our dedicated Scottish Public Sector Practice, we are well-placed to provide our clients with expert risk management advice they need to cope with the significant challenges that lie ahead.”
