Keeling Named Guy Carp President, CEO – International Operations

Guy Carpenter & Company announced that it has named Henry Keeling as President & Chief Executive Officer of International Operations, effective August 1, 2009.

He will also chair Guy Carpenter’s International Board and will be responsible for its operations in the United Kingdom, Continental Europe, Asia Pacific, Australia and Bermuda. In addition, he will be responsible for all Marine and Energy, Aviation and Retrocession businesses globally.

Keeling will report to Guy Carpenter’s President and CEO Peter Zaffino and will join the Company’s Executive Committee. Zaffino noted that the appointment “marks a significant milestone for Guy Carpenter. Continued investment across all markets demonstrates our commitment to being the world’s premier risk and reinsurance intermediary in every territory in which we operate.” He also cited Keeling’s “executive experience at a senior and global level and his reputation in the industry.”

Keeling started his career in London and spent 19 years in the Lloyd’s and the London market as an underwriter and broker. He joined Mid Ocean Re in 1993 and, prior to the firm’s merger with XL Capital, was President and COO and Underwriting Officer. He held the position of Chief Executive of Global Reinsurance Operations for XL Capital from 1998 to 2005 and was appointed Chief Operating Officer in 2006, a position he held until 2008. Most recently, Mr. Keeling was an Operating Partner of Stone Point Capital LLC.

Keeling indicated that throughout much of his career “I have been a market for Guy Carpenter, a client and sometimes even a competitor. I have always admired their professionalism, their client-centric focus and their integrity. I am proud to become a member of that team.”
