Reyes Named as Zurich’s New Chief Investment Officer

Zurich Financial Services Group has announced the appointment of Cecilia Reyes, 51, a Swiss and Philippine citizen, as Chief Investment Officer and member of the Group Executive Committee, effective April 1. She reports directly to CEO Martin Senn.

Reyes is based in Zurich, and succeeds Senn, who became Zurich’s CEO on the first of January. He noted her “deep substantive knowledge with a profound understanding of Zurich’s strategy and culture,” and indicated that she has “played a key role in the Group’s successful investment management strategy, and we are confident that she is the right person to continue driving it forward.”

Reyes has headed Zurich’s Investment Strategy Implementation since April 2006. She has “extensive experience in the development and implementation of Zurich’s investment management strategies, successfully leading the team of regional investment managers and driving the Group’s global real estate strategies,” said the announcement..

Reyes joined Zurich in January 2001 as Regional Manager for Group Investments with responsibility for North America, and became Regional Manager for Europe and International Businesses in July 2004. Prior to joining Zurich, she worked for ING Asset Management in Amsterdam, preceded by an assignment with ING Barings in London. Before her years with ING, she worked for Credit Suisse in Zurich in various roles in Credit Suisse Asset Management, Global Treasury and Securities. She holds a PhD in Finance from London Business School and an MBA from the University of Hawaii.
