China’s Continental, Korea’s Daewoo INS Join Assurex Global Broker Network

Assurex Global, the worldwide broker network, announced that it has added two new firms to the network: Continental Insurance Brokers Limited (CIB), with headquarters in Beijing, China, and Daewoo INS Korea Corp. in Seoul, South Korea.

“We continue to expand our presence throughout the important Asia/Pacific region, and these two outstanding firms allow us to provide even greater local expertise to clients with exposures in this part of the world,” explained John Rodwell, Assurex Global’s VP of International Business Development.

CIB was established in 2003 with the approval of the China Insurance Regulatory Commission. In addition to its headquarters in Beijing it also has offices in Shanghai, Shenzhen, Chengdu, Kunming, Ningbo, Chongqing and Wuhan.

The broker’s specialties include Energy, Marine, Aviation & Space, Wind Power, Banking, Fine Art, Engineering and Credit Insurance. “We are extremely pleased to have additional opportunities afforded through Assurex Global,” stated Alan Y Zhang, Managing Director and Founding Partner.

Daewoo is headquartered in Seoul and has been a major Korean broker since 1999. Its specialties include Marine & Aviation, Property & Treaty, Engineering, and Casualty & Specialty.

President and CEO Jun Heum Yeon commented: “The last decade was focused on developing a foundation of trust with our clients and the industry. The next decade we will focus on further growth and development, so our election to Assurex Global is a major milestone toward accomplishment of this goal.”

The bulletin also noted that the “total number of Assurex Global agencies or brokers now stands at 107. The network achieved $28 billion in annual premium volume in 2009.
