Alterra Announces Reinsurance Role Changes and Promotions

April 20, 2011

Bermuda-based Alterra Capital Holdings Limited announced several role changes and promotions that will affect its corporate and reinsurance operations, including the appointments of Greg Richardson as Executive Vice President, Underwriting Strategy and Business Analytics for Alterra, Jed Rhoads as Executive Vice President and Chief Underwriting Officer, Reinsurance for Alterra Bermuda, and Trevor Carvey as Executive Vice President and Chief Underwriting Officer, Reinsurance for Alterra Re UK.

President and CEO W. Marston (Marty) Becker commented: “We are excited by Greg Richardson’s transition from Chief Underwriting Officer for Alterra’s Bermuda and Dublin Reinsurance operations to Executive Vice President of Underwriting Strategy and Business Analytics, a newly formed corporate role. Working with Peter Minton, Alterra’s Chief Operating Officer, Greg will focus on the continued development of Alterra’s pricing models, capital allocations and liability risk management, as well as the periodic determination of our target business mix — all critical aspects of Alterra’s enterprise risk management and business planning disciplines. Greg will greatly enhance the scope and depth of resources we have dedicated to these functions with his underwriting knowledge and complementary advanced mathematical skills.”

John Berger, Alterra’s Vice Chairman and CEO-Reinsurance added: “With Greg’s movement, Jed Rhoads assumes the role of Executive Vice President and Chief Underwriting Officer of our Bermuda Reinsurance business. This is a natural transition for Jed, as for the past year he has been managing the day-to-day operations of the Bermuda Reinsurance business. Jed has a long and profitable track record in reinsurance underwriting, including leading Harbor Point’s Property Catastrophe and Retro business in Bermuda.

“In addition, Trevor Carvey is appointed Executive Vice President and Chief Underwriting Officer of Alterra Re UK, where he will continue to leverage and build out Alterra’s London (non-Lloyd’s) and European reinsurance franchise. Trevor, who established Harbor Point’s UK office four years ago, has had a successful reinsurance underwriting career, including extended periods with Arch Re Bermuda and GE ERC/Frankona.”
