Applied Systems Names Purdy Sr. VP, General Mgr. for Canadian Operations

June 20, 2012

Insurance software company Applied Systems announced that Jeffrey D. Purdy has been appointed senior vice president and general manager of Applied Systems Canada. He is an Ontario native and a Canadian insurance industry veteran.

Purdy will be responsible for Applied Systems’ Canadian operations, and “will oversee the integration of Compu-Quote, the leading comparative rating services provider recently acquired by Applied Systems,” the bulletin said.

He will also “lead Applied Systems’ introduction of Epic, the company’s flagship agency and broker management system, into the Canadian marketplace in the first quarter of 2013. Purdy has extensive experience with successful Epic deployments in the United States since the product’s launch in 2008.”

Purdy joined Applied Systems’ Canadian operations in 1989, and became President of Applied Systems Canada in 1993, serving in that role until 2002, when he relocated to the company’s U.S. headquarters to lead the North American primary sales organization.

He indicated that he is pleased to relocate to Canada, where he noted that Applied Systems has made “substantial investments…in this marketplace over the past nine months. I am convinced that Applied Systems has more to offer than ever before to the Canadian marketplace in terms of outstanding products and world-class service.”

Applied Systems CEO Reid French described Purdy as “uniquely qualified to lead the integration efforts of our newly acquired Compu-Quote business due to his leadership skills and deep understanding of the Canadian insurance market.”

He added that he truly believes “that our market position and growth opportunity in Canada have never been stronger due to our recent investments, including the acquisition of Compu-Quote, the introduction of Epic in 2013, and the opening of the Canadian data center in the third quarter of this year.”
