May 14, 2015

Howden International, part of Hyperion Insurance Group, has appointed Goh Chye Huat as chief executive officer and principal officer of its Singapore retail operation, subject to regulatory approval and completion of the customary notice period with his existing employer.

Goh will join from Jardine Lloyd Thompson Pte Ltd., where as managing director, Singapore, he has successfully built a business over the last 22 years and established a proven track record through his ability to attract the most talented professionals and deliver market leading client solutions and service, the broker said in a statement.

Goh will play a critical role helping to deliver growth across all business lines in Singapore, as Howden continues to expand its offering and retail capabilities in Asia, the company added.

Following Goh’s appointment, Jessie Tijoe, currently chief executive officer and principal officer, will become chairman, with a focus on key client relationships.

Howden also announced that four other senior executives will be joining the group, once they have each fulfilled their duties to their existing employer. Gerard Lee will join as executive director – strategic business development; Primus Lee will join as executive director – head of employee benefits, Jenny Lim will join as executive director – head of special risks (financial lines), and Gracy Khoo will join as executive director – head of major corporate accounts.

“Following on from our recent acquisition of a 49 percent stake in and management control of, CIMB Insurance Brokers Sdn. Bhd in Malaysia, I am hugely excited that Chye Huat, without doubt a leader with the highest integrity and professionalism, has chosen to join us along with four other senior executives of equal caliber, all of whom are a strong fit for our entrepreneurial culture and our clients’ insurance needs,” commented David Howden, chief executive officer of Hyperion.

“Our Singapore office is already a 50-plus strong team of specialist brokers and the addition of these senior hires will enable us to enhance our offering significantly and ensure teams from across the group are well-equipped to offer the very best and most innovative insurance solutions to our clients,” he said.

“I would personally like to thank Jessie for her valuable contribution at the forefront of the company’s development and know she will make an excellent chairman with her unrivaled focus on clients and service excellence,” Howden added.
