May 18, 2015

MSIG at Lloyd’s, the international specialty arm of Mitsui Sumitomo Insurance Group, has appointed Martin Eyres as property underwriting manager and promoted Andrew Dougall as head of property and casualty.

Eyres, who will report to Dougall, has more than 30 years’ experience in insurance, most recently at AXA and CNA Insurance.

Dougall has successfully reengineered, diversified and raised the profile of MSIG’s casualty and professional units over the past three years, designed to enhance MISG’s property and casualty business in the international, London and regional markets.

MSIG Chief Underwriting Officer Graeme Rayner said: “The appointment of Andrew and the arrival of Martin gives us an opportunity to work our distribution lines more effectively with a more joined-up approach to products and markets. This will play to our advantage in current market conditions as we maximize the ongoing development of our international business, gain best possible value from our regional network and develop our emerging approach to electronic trading via coverholders.”

Commenting on his appointment Eyres said: “The scope of the opportunity, the strength of the platform, the depth of the financial stability and the quality of the people are hugely attractive to me. MSIG at Lloyd’s is a dynamic company with a great service culture, empowered underwriters, excellent risk engineers and an award-winning claims team. This is an organization that is moving in the right direction and I am hugely positive about the opportunities that lie ahead.”
