Bruce M. Hodges will join the Generali Group as group head of Information Systems, effective October 1, 2015, the Trieste, Italy-based company announced.
Hodges will be responsible for Generali’s global IT systems and application landscape, with a focus on modernizing the IT Systems that impact clients, distributors and employees on a daily basis.
Canadian-born Hodges has a significant international experience in financialsServices and in particular IT systems, acquired in the Asian, European and North American markets. Before joining Generali, Bruce held senior executive roles at NN Group, Sun Life Financial and Manulife Financial.
Hodges takes over from Massimo Paltrinieri, who has decided to pursue other opportunities outside the group.
The IT renovation and rationalization program is a key element of the previously announced Generali Group strategy, which is focused on delivering customer service excellence, while leveraging and enhancing the group’s scale and skills to yield effective and efficient operations, the company said in a statement.
Hodges’ know-how and international financial services experience will help “accelerate the digital transformation of our business and turn IT into a strategic asset for Generali,” said Carsten Schildknecht, group COO of Generali.”His appointment is a step forward in the implementation of the new group strategy, with IT playing a fundamental role in Generali’s ambition to become the leading retail insurer through superior customer experience and outstanding efficiency.”
