European Property Underwriting Limited (EPU), a London-based property owners MGA, has secured an exclusive capacity arrangement with three risk transfer partners, led by HDI Gerling, with major co/reinsurance participations from Liberty Mutual Insurance and Swiss Re Corporate Solutions.

EPU is an underwriting agency specializing in a range of insurance products for property owners via brokers. “We are delighted to be partnering with HDI Gerling, with support from Liberty Mutual Insurance and Swiss Re Corporate Solutions as we look to move to the exciting next stage of growth for EPU. Our exclusive arrangements with these leading markets gives us the ability to write line sizes in excess of £300 million [$455.6 million],” said Ian Dopson, managing director of EPU.

“EPU [has] a great track record of giving our broker partners and their clients an edge in the market. Our experience and connectivity, backed by this new first class capacity, gives a guarantee of service excellence, expertise and significant capacity for major property risks,” he continued.

“Our relationship with EPU has created a fantastic opportunity for HDI-Gerling to enter the property owners sector,” commented Richard Taylor, managing director of HDI-Gerling UK.

“When forming our partnership, it was important for HDI-Gerling to work with a team that mirror our core underwriting values and has a proven track record in this market,” he added.

“EPU has managed and developed a profitable portfolio for the last 15 years. They have a professional and experienced team which together with our significant capacity, excellent security and extensive global network will enable us to take advantage of the business opportunities both here in the UK and throughout Europe,” Taylor confirmed.

“EPU’s strengths reflect and complement our own, demonstrating the same deep sector expertise and professionalism that is at the center of our own values,” said Marc Davis, country manager UK & Ireland, for Swiss Re Corporate Solutions.

“Putting customers at the center of our thinking is of utmost importance to our firm and in EPU we have found an innovative and responsive counterpart who believes, like us, in working smarter together with clients,” Davis went on to say.

David Margrett, chief executive of Global Risk Partners, was pleased that EPU has secured such excellent capacity, which will enable the company “to continue to deliver outstanding service to a wider audience of national and regional brokers…”
