Thornton Named Managing Director of Global Risk Partners’ Retail Broking Unit

Global Risk Partners Limited (GRP)* is pleased to announce that Neil Thornton will be joining as managing director of GRP’s Retail Broking business.

Thornton was previously head of the Commercial Division of Bluefin Insurance Services and before that managing director of Smart and Cook. He also served for many years on the board of the British Insurance Brokers Association (BIBA).

In his new role he will report to Mike Bruce, chief executive of GRP’s Retail Broking business. GRP said it has an ambitious growth program and already controls in excess of £200 million ($306.4 million) gross written premiums and has access to additional funds from private equity firm Penta Capital.

*GRP is an investment vehicle aimed at brokers and managing general agents (MGAs) trading in the UK retail and global, specialty insurance markets. GRP acquires businesses and teams that have niche, non-commoditized, specialty propositions and strong profitability.
