With a global remit, Gouraud takes on the responsibility of further driving XL Catlin’s “market-centric culture in order to deliver relevant and innovative insurance solutions to its clients and brokers,” said the company in a statement.

Alongside all aspects of client and broker management, Gouraud will specifically help drive best in class service in the areas of Global Programs and Captives.

Gouraud founded an MGA in 2014 and before that he spent 15 years at AIG in both underwriting and senior account management roles. Prior to joining AIG he was head of Risk Financing at Elf Aquitaine Group (now part of Total SA), with responsibility for the management and placement of its insurance programs and for the underwriting and management of its Bermuda and Luxembourg based reinsurance captives.

As Elf Aquitaine Group’s risk manager based in the U.S., he was responsible for the insurance programs of the North American chemical division.

“Philippe is exactly the right fit for this role; his global industry experience acquired through roles in Europe, the U.S. and the U.K. both with a global carrier and as a risk manager, positions him ideally to help deliver our vision for the future,” she said.
