Pen Underwriting Names Scott as Head of Cyber Liability, Driving Cyber Growth

July 26, 2016

Pen Underwriting announced that Adrian Scott has been appointed to the newly created role of head of Cyber Liability.

Scott takes responsibility for enhancing Pen Underwriting’s capabilities in cyber risk management and insurance, building a dedicated team of sector specialists and broadening the company’s geographic reach.

Bringing over 25 years’ experience in professional and financial lines, Scott has spent more than a decade involved in the cyber insurance arena, holding a number of senior industry roles in the U.S. at the forefront of this rapidly growing sector, said London-based Pen Underwriting in a statement. Most recently he was executive vice president and chief underwriting officer at Ridge Global, a cyber-security firm founded and headed by former U.S. Head of Homeland Security Tom Ridge.

Prior to this Scott led the creation and implementation of a new professional & financial lines underwriting platform and capability at QBE North America, which he joined in 2011, having previously held senior roles at Valiant, Marsh and Aon in the United States.

As part of Pen Underwriting’s Specialty division, Scott will report into Jennifer Martin, managing director of Financial Lines, which manages U.K. and international business across the spectrum of e-traded, individually underwritten and delegated authority solutions with expertise in crisis management, cyber liability, professional indemnity, directors & officers, and personal accident & travel.

“Strong broker demand for cutting-edge propositions to best protect their clients has seen cyber fast become a crucial and core capability for us,” said Martin.

“Adrian’s appointment to build and lead a dedicated cyber practice, further demonstrates our commitment to actively attract and retain the industry’s best talent for the benefit of our brokers and their clients,” she added.

Scott commented: “In cyber insurance, the speed, efficiency and flexibility of your platform are just as important as the technical underwriting expertise that underpins it – as is the need to take a holistic approach to client risk exposure. Pen Underwriting’s capabilities and determination to meet this challenge head on made for a compelling opportunity, and I’m looking forward to building the team, broadening our capabilities and expanding our geographic reach.”
