Swiss Re announced that Mike Mitchell, currently head Property Underwriting and Property & Casualty Facultative, Asia, will succeed Edouard Schmid as Swiss Re’s head Property & Specialty Reinsurance, effective July 1, 2017.
He will also serve as a member of the Reinsurance Executive Committee. As previously announced, Edouard Schmid will take over as group chief underwriting officer on July 1, 2017.
Mitchell, an Associate of the Chartered Insurance Institute, has a 30-year career in reinsurance with many years of experience in P/C underwriting and client management.
He started at M&G Re in London, and since 1997, he has worked for Swiss Re in various P&C underwriting and client management roles in Singapore and Australia.
Mitchell also has a background in reinsurance transactions, and spent two years leading the P&C Structured Solutions team. Currently based in Sydney, Mitchell will move to Zurich.
