BMS Group Ltd., the independent, re/insurance broking arm of Minova Insurance, announced that John Hoare has been appointed managing director of BMS Harris & Dixon Marine, BMS’ specialty marine division.
Hoare succeeds current managing director Tony Pryce, who will remain chairman of the business. Hoare and Pryce will work closely together on developing BMS Harris & Dixon Marine’s expanding portfolio, the London-based broker said in a statement.
Hoare brings 32 years of experience in the marine insurance industry. He most recently served as international marine director at H. W. Wood Ltd., having joined H. W. Wood from Heath Lambert. He began his career in the insurance industry at Sedgwick in 1985.
“John’s appointment comes at a vital moment for BMS Harris & Dixon Marine. We have been steadily growing our book of business, and John will play a crucial role in the continued build-out of our capabilities,” said Pryce.
“It has been a privilege to lead the BMS Harris & Dixon Marine division for almost 30 years, and it is now time for an orderly and managed transition to a new generation of leadership,” he added.
