April 5, 2018

Tokio Marine Kiln (TMK), the provider of specialist and corporate insurance, announced the promotion of Alex Dugand to regional managing director, Asia.

Dugand takes up the role with immediate effect and will report to James Dover, group chief financial officer.

In this new role, Dugand will oversee TMK’s Asian business, spanning the Hong Kong, Singapore and China markets. Kin Lau, country head, Hong Kong and Susanna Quek, country head, Singapore will report to Dugand.

Dugand was previously regional underwriting director for TMK’s Asia division, a role he held for the past two years. Dugand has been with TMK for over a decade, having first joined as a reinsurance underwriter.

“Alex is an accomplished underwriter whose regional market expertise, skill in building profitable books of business and ability to foster collaboration between our Asia teams and international offices have been core drivers of growth for TMK,” said TMK CEO Charles Franks. “Alex’s appointment is reflective of TMK’s commitment to supporting our employees’ advancement and their ability to progress through the ranks.”

Franks went on to say that large “infrastructure investments have significantly increased the need for specialist insurance products in the Hong Kong, Singapore and China markets.”

With Dugand at the helm in Asia and the company’s suite of products, TMK is “ideally placed to respond to these market developments and harness opportunities in this thriving region,” he added.
