This wrap-up of International People Moves details recent appointments at Tremor Technologies, Mosaic, AIRMIC and Aeolus Capital Management Ltd.

A summary of these new hires follows.

Tremor Technologies

Boston-based Tremor Technologies, the online reinsurance marketplace, announced that reinsurance executive Emmanuel Clarke has joined its board of directors.

Clarke has had a long and successful career in the reinsurance industry, spending more than 25 years at PartnerRe, most recently leading the firm as president and CEO.

“I have always been impressed by Tremor and its products, and today I am very excited to join Tremor’s board and contribute to its growth acceleration,” said Clarke.

“I am convinced Tremor represents the future evolution of reinsurance purchasing, where buyers make most informed decisions based on transparent, comprehensive information. Tremor’s platform brings value to the whole reinsurance placement process – including buyers, brokers and reinsurers, by generating best outcomes through data and expertise, optimized execution and greater efficiency,” said Clarke.

Mosaic
William Monat

William Monat, a prominent mergers and acquisitions insurance market veteran, has joined insurer Mosaic to spearhead the specialty company’s transactional liability business around the world.

Based in Chicago as executive vice president, global head of Mergers & Acquisitions (M&A), Monat will oversee underwriting operations in North America, the UK, Europe, and Asia-Pacific regions. His focus includes representations & warranties, tax insurance, and contingent liability insurance products.

Monat has more than 20 years’ experience as a leader in the transactional risk insurance sector as an underwriter, broker and lawyer. Between December 2011 and April 2021, he led the Mergers & Acquisitions Group in North America for Willis Towers Watson. Monat has experience as a practicing attorney and certified public accountant.

The M&A market has seen a dramatic uptick in the last two quarters, with increased demand for capacity across the board, said Mosaic, noting that this recent trend follows a decade of growth in deal volume, with an increasing number of buyers and sellers seeking insurance protection in M&A, restructurings, partnerships, venture capital initiatives and other transactions.

Bermuda-based Mosaic was founded by CEO Mitch Blaser earlier this year. The insurer combines Lloyd’s Syndicate 1609 with a wholly owned syndicated capital management agency and underwriting hubs in Bermuda, London, the U.S., and Asia. The company is focused on a select number of complex lines of specialty business being launched throughout 2021. To date, Mosaic has built teams who have begun underwriting political risk and cyber security globally.

AIRMIC
Julia Graham

Airmic, the UK’s risk management association, announced the appointment of Julia Graham as chief executive of the association for risk and insurance professionals, succeeding John Ludlow.

Graham is a former chair of both Airmic and FERMA, the Federation of European Risk Management Associations. Prior to assuming the CEO role, Graham served as deputy CEO and technical director of Airmic since October 2015.

She has more than 35 years’ experience in senior risk management and insurance positions, including serving as director of risk management and insurance at a global law firm and 30 years in the insurance sector.

Graham is also a board member of IFRIMA, the International Federation of Risk and Insurance Management Associations, and serves as a non-executive director of several captive insurance companies.

Ludlow joined Airmic’s board of directors in 2012, and served as its deputy chair from 2015 to 2016, before beginning his tenure as CEO of Airmic from June 2017. Ludlow will hand over to Graham during April and continue to serve in several non-executive board positions, including at Airmic.

Aeolus Capital Management Ltd.

Aeolus Capital Management Ltd. announced that Andy Richardson will be appointed as a Portfolio Manager at Aeolus, subject to Bermuda Immigration approval and after fulfilling his obligations with Lancashire Insurance Co. Ltd., where he is currently head of Property Treaty.

Prior to joining Lancashire, Richardson was a broker at Guy Carpenter where he worked for more than eight years in the United Kingdom, Japan, China and New York.

Bermuda-based Aeolus Capital Management Ltd. said it manages capital on behalf of investors seeking the superior risk adjusted returns and diversification benefits available from investing in the property catastrophe reinsurance and retrocession market.
