People Moves: Liberty Mutual’s Streeton to Aon Reins Solutions; Guerin Promoted at Marsh UK Corporate; Ed Broking’s Parker and Lech to Alesco

These international People Moves cover recent appointments at three insurance brokers: Marsh, Aon and Alesco.

Aon plc announced that Frederick Streeton has been named leader of Complex Client Strategy of Aon’s Reinsurance Solutions.

Joining the firm in September 2021, Streeton will be based in London, reporting to Reinsurance Solutions’ UK Chairman Don Magee.

Streeton joins Aon from insurer Liberty Mutual Group, where over the past nine years he held the positions of chief underwriting officer of the Global Reinsurance Strategy Group (GRSG), and latterly head of Underwriting Strategy – Global Risk Solutions. He started his career in 1987 at broker Thomas R Miller and subsequently spent 10 years broking with Greig Fester and through its merger with Benfield and then Aon.

Nick Frankland, UK CEO of Reinsurance Solutions, commented that Streeton’s knowledge of all classes, “especially non-marine property and composite marine, both treaty and facultative, will mean that his impact will help us to be better equipped to improve our service to our client portfolio.”

In addition, Aon’s Ben Love will become the Strategic Growth leader for the UK platform, responsible for building and converting the new business pipeline and developing and implementing the growth plans across all classes for the region.

Marsh announced the appointment of Alex Guerin as Head of Office, London, for its UK Corporate business. Guerin will report to Andrew Wilton, managing director of UK Corporate’s South Region.

Alex Guerin

Marsh’s UK Corporate business provides risk management advice, insurance brokerage and claims advocacy services to mid-size and large organisations through its network of 18 offices.

In this role, Guerin will lead the London Corporate business team who advise clients on risk exposures and devise solutions to help them increase their operational resilience and mitigate the risks they face. The London Corporate team represents London-based businesses across all industry sectors, including financial services, banking, retail and hospitality.

Guerin joined Marsh in 2012 as part of Marsh’s Graduate Scheme. Most recently, he worked in the UK Risk Management business as a client executive, serving a broad range of FTSE clients. In 2015, The British Insurance Brokers’ Association named Guerin as its National Young Broker of the Year.

Alesco Risk Management Services, the London-based brokerage subsidiary of Arthur J. Gallagher, has appointed two new senior energy specialists to grow its power team.

Jon Parker

Jon Parker has joined as executive director to head up Alesco’s power team within its 60-employee strong specialty energy practice. Parker has over 30 years’ experience in the sector in all aspects of downstream with a particular focus on power. He has spent much of his career working for clients in the US and Latin America and joins from Ed Broking, where he was head of downstream. Prior to this he held senior roles at Guy Carpenter, HSBC and Heath Lambert.

Charlie Lech

Charlie Lech will take on the role of partner in Parker’s team. Lech has more than 10 years in the power sector and also joins from Ed Broking, having previously worked at Price Forbes & Partners. Lech has a background in the U.S. & international market and extensive experience in market placement. Lech’s focus will be assisting in building the Alesco client portfolio globally.

“Over the last few years the power insurance market has seen significant challenges; risks to the business have evolved, capacity has been hit and rates have been increasing, so the role a specialist broker plays is now more important than ever. This changeable market also gives Alesco plenty of opportunities to demonstrate its expertise and grow its client base,” commented Parker.

Alesco specializes in energy, construction, terrorism, alternative risk transfer, property liability and related lines of business.
