These International People Moves detail appointments at Hiscox and Hiscox ILS as well as three appointments at Tokio Marine HCC International’s Professional Risks team.

A summary of these new hires follows here.

Hiscox, the specialist global insurer, has announced two appointments this week: Riaz Thanduparakkal as line underwriter – Energy, and Vincent Prabis as managing principal, Hiscox ILS.

Riaz Thanduparakkal

Thanduparakkal will lead Hiscox’s underwriting team in developing its product offering for the energy sector as it transitions towards a cleaner and greener future.

Thanduparakkal, who will be based in Hiscox’s London office, joins after more than a decade at Chubb Group where he recently held roles including product head, Energy, within Chubb’s London market specialty wholesale division, and head of Multinational and Network Development, Energy. Prior to that, he was an account manager for Marsh UK Ltd.’s Energy practice. He also has held roles with Lloyd’s broker Crispin Speers & Partners and Oman Insurance in Dubai.

Reporting to Mike Southgate, Hiscox’s Divisional Director for Marine, Energy and Specialty, Thanduparakkal will lead a team of experienced energy underwriters – including upstream energy underwriters Lorraine Mackey and Louis Cozon.

Commenting on Thanduparakkal’s appointment, Southgate said: “Our energy clients’ businesses are rapidly evolving as the sector pivots towards more sustainable business models in line with their ESG commitments and we must also evolve and innovate with them.”

“Lloyd’s recent launch of its Sustainable Markets Initiative Insurance Task Force underlined the market’s commitment to help businesses ‘accelerate their transition to a sustainable future,'” commented Thanduparakkal. “We want to play our part in that transition, by supporting our clients with the risk products and services they need as their business models adapt, in line with our own ESG ambitions.”

Vincent Prabis

Hiscox also announced the appointment of Vincent Prabis to the role of managing principal, Hiscox ILS. His appointment is subject to Department of Immigration and Bermuda Regulatory approval.

In his new role, Prabis will be responsible for spearheading the company’s ILS evolution, ensuring investor demands for high-quality, innovative and diversified solutions are met. He will also become a member of the Hiscox Re & ILS Executive team and will report to Kathleen Reardon, CEO of Hiscox Re & ILS.

Prior to joining Hiscox, Prabis served as head of ILS Strategies at SCOR Investment Partners where he oversaw the strategic direction of a well-diversified ILS business.
