People Moves: Gallagher Names Hughes as Aerospace Consultant; Tokio Marine HCC Hires Faubert for Credit & Political Risk; Enstar’s CFO to Step Down

Gallagher Names Hughes as Consultant in Global Aerospace Practice

Gallagher has engaged legal specialist Nick Hughes as a consultant within its global aerospace practice.

In his new role, Hughes will be responsible for supporting client-facing teams with legal input to complex insurance coverage, claims and contractual issues, as well as helping to grow Gallagher’s aerospace client base.

Until his retirement in June 2020, Hughes was a solicitor and partner in law firm Holman Fenwick Willan’s (HFW) aviation practice team, before which he was a partner at Barlow Lyde & Gilbert. During his legal career, he was mainly London-based, with periods spent in Hong Kong and Singapore.

Hughes is a prominent legal aerospace specialist who brings considerable international legal experience in all aspects of aviation and space insurance, having provided legal representation in claims resolution and disputes arising from loss events in over 130 countries. He also has extensive experience advising on regulatory and commercial matters.

Hughes serves on a variety of aerospace industry committees and boards, including as a longstanding director and secretary of Airmic Limited, the representative organization in the UK for risk managers and insurance professionals, as well as the Aviation Insurance Clauses Group (AICG), which publishes non-binding standard wordings and clauses to be used in aviation insurance policies. Additionally, he is a vice president of the Aviation Committee of the Insurance Institute of London (IIL) and past chairman of the Aviation Committee.

Additionally, Hughes is a court member and past master of the Worshipful Company of Solicitors, a liveryman of the Worshipful Company of Insurers, and a past president of the City of London Law Society.

Tokio Marine HCC Hires Faubert for European Credit and Political Risk Team

Tokio Marine HCC – Credit Group has expanded its European Credit and Political Risk team with the appointment of Benjamin Faubert as senior underwriter.

Operating from Tokio Marine HCC’s Paris office, Faubert will write a combination of credit and political risk insurance products, with a particular focus on clients within the European Economic Area (EEA) region.

Beginning his insurance career in London with Coface, Faubert has over a decade of experience in the market, having held a series of senior underwriting roles in London, New York City, and Paris at Euler Hermes, and most recently at Société Générale where he was director of Syndications, Credit and Political Risk.

We have ambitious plans for our team in France, and we expect to see strong, steady growth in the coming years by building long-lasting relationships with both brokers and clients, just as we have in the UK and U.S. Benjamin will play a key role in delivering on our plans across the EEA region,” commented Jerome Swinscoe, president of Tokio Marine HCC – Credit Group.

Enstar Announces Departure of CFO and Appointment of Acting CFO

Bermuda-based Enstar Group Ltd. announced that Zachary Wolf has stepped down from his position as chief financial officer to pursue other opportunities and will remain available for a transition period until Sept. 30, 2021.

Orla Gregory, Enstar’s current chief operating officer, has been named acting chief financial officer. Michael Murphy, Enstar’s current chief accounting officer, will serve as deputy chief financial officer.

Gregory has served as chief operating officer since 2016, having previously served as chief integration officer and in executive M&A positions from 2009. She joined Enstar 18 years ago, having previously worked in the insurance industry in Ireland and with Ernst & Young in Bermuda. Gregory is a fellow of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA).

Murphy joined Enstar in May 2021 as chief accounting officer, most recently serving as interim chief financial officer and chief accounting officer at TriNet Group Inc. and chief accounting officer of QBE North America. Murphy has held several senior finance roles in the insurance industry during his 30-year career.

“Orla is a trusted adviser to the board and is well-positioned to serve as acting chief financial officer given her strong accounting and finance background in combination with her significant knowledge of our business and experience managing our global operations,” commented Dominic Silvester, Enstar’s chief executive officer. “She will work closely with Mike Murphy to lead our talented Finance group, and I have great confidence in the collective strength of this team.”
