SiriusPoint Appoints Reinsurance Exec Heerasing; HDI Promotes Ogden as Director of Underwriting/Distribution; Besso Builds Property/Specialty Team With Hires From Tysers

SiriusPoint Appoints Top Reinsurance Executive Heerasing

SiriusPoint Ltd., a Bermuda-based specialty insurer and reinsurer, announced that Bobby Heerasing will be joining the company’s senior leadership team.

Heerasing takes on the newly created role of head of International Strategic Business Development. He will be responsible for the strategy and development of SiriusPoint International’s growth objectives, managing strategic partnerships with key industry partners and clients, and helping to advance the company’s market-leading position.

Heerasing will report to Monica Cramér Manhem, president, International Reinsurance at SiriusPoint, and will be based in Singapore, subject to regulatory approval. He will work with the executive and global business leaders to drive SiriusPoint International’s growth and expansion plans, further strengthening SiriusPoint’s capabilities in general corporate strategy, market intelligence and go-to-market planning and execution in the international space, focusing first on the Asia Pacific region.

Heerasing has over 25 years’ experience and joins from Asia Capital Re (ACR) Holdings, where he served as group CEO and was a member of the board. In his three years leading ACR, Heerasing was instrumental in significantly improving the financial performance of the company while also successfully turning the carrier into a credible and respected global property/casualty reinsurer. Before ACR, he spent 19 years working in the property treaty and casualty treaty reinsurance market at XL Catlin Ltd., serving as underwriting and distribution director, Insurance, and prior to that as chief underwriting officer, Asia Pacific. He began his insurance career in 1995 at Royal Sun & Alliance as a senior underwriting assistant, Marine.

HDI Global Promotes Ogden as Director of Underwriting/Distribution, UK & Ireland

HDI Global SE (HDI) announced that Stephanie Ogden has been promoted to the role of director of Underwriting and Distribution, UK and Ireland, effective immediately.

In this new role, Ogden will lead HDI’s underwriting strategy across all lines of business and maintain overall responsibility for the distribution function. She will continue to report directly to Managing Director Claire McDonald.

Ogden has spent two years building the distribution function at HDI, responsible for the distribution strategy, broker and client relationships, amplifying HDI’s presence in these key markets as a result.

As a result of Ogden’s promotion, Oliver Davies will assume the new role of head of Distribution with responsibility for HDI’s key broker partner relationships and marketing activity. In his previous role as Distribution and Strategic Initiatives manager, Davies was instrumental in building deeper relationships with HDI’s broker partners and supporting global initiatives and projects.

Lloyd’s Broker Besso Builds Property/Specialty Team With Hires From Tysers

Besso Insurance Services, the independent Lloyd’s broking group, announced the formation of a new property and speciality team, with the appointments of Matthew Sinclair and David Pratt-Sinclair, who join as director and executive producer, respectively, based in London. Gemma Barnes and Joe Marston also join the team as senior broker and broker, respectively.

The team will specialize in property and liability risks. Within property, the focus will be on open market facultative property risks in the U.S., Caribbean and international markets, while liability will focus on open market and facility based smaller risks globally, excluding mainland U.S.

Sinclair brings extensive experience to Besso, having amassed more than 25 years of industry experience. He joins from Tysers, where since 2012 he held the role of director of the North American and international speciality division. Throughout his career, Sinclair has built valuable global connections with clients and markets particularly throughout the Caribbean and North America.

Pratt-Sinclair previously held the role of director and ambassador of Tysers’ North American and international speciality division and brings more than four decades of international market experience to Besso.

London-based Besso Group Ltd. is currently part of the insurance operations of BGC Partners and is set to join The Ardonagh Group as part of its acquisition announced in May 2021 (which is subject to regulatory approval). The Ardonagh Group is the UK’s largest independent broking group and a top 20 broker globally.
