People Moves: Norgrove to Succeed Egan as RSA CEO, UK & International; Marsh Promotes 3 Senior Leaders for Financial and Professional Specialty

Norgrove to Succeed Egan as RSA CEO, UK & International

Toronto-based Intact Financial Corp. announced that Ken Norgrove has been appointed to the role of RSA CEO, UK & International, effective Jan. 10, 2022, subject to regulatory approval. Norgrove succeeds Scott Egan who will be leaving RSA at the end of 2021.

Ken Norgrove

Norgrove was most recently CEO of RSA Scandinavia from 2019 until the completion of Intact’s acquisition of RSA in June 2021. Prior to that Norgrove was CEO of RSA Ireland and led the successful turnaround of that business from 2014 to 2019.

Norgrove’s history with RSA dates back to 1986, including a four-year term in the UK where he set up and grew the very successful Global Renewable Energy Business. He also spent one year as a vice president at Travelers Insurance and three years as CEO, Zurich General Insurance (Ireland) between 2010 and 2014 before re-joining RSA. He is a Chartered Insurer and fellow of the Chartered Insurance Institute (CII).

Norgrove will report to Charles Brindamour, CEO Intact Financial Corp., and Mark Hodges, chairman of the RSA UK & International Board. He will also sit on the IFC Operating Committee.

Charlotte Jones, RSA’s chief financial officer, will serve as interim CEO until Norgrove’s regulatory approvals have been received.

Marsh Promotes 3 Senior Leaders for Financial and Professional Specialty

Marsh, the insurance broker and risk adviser, announced three senior leadership appointments within its Financial and Professional (FINPRO) Specialty division.

Paul Denny

Paul Denny has been appointed global specialty head, FINPRO, Marsh Specialty; Beth Thurston has been appointed UK CEO of FINPRO business; and Stephanie Manson has been appointed UK Management Liability leader. All the appointments are effective Jan. 1, 2022.

Based in London, Denny will also join the Marsh Specialty Global Executive Committee and report to Lucy Clarke, president, Marsh Specialty and Marsh Global Placement. Denny will work with the FINPRO leaders across eight global regions to ensure that clients benefit from the knowledge and experience of Marsh Specialty’s team of over 1350 financial lines insurance specialists worldwide.

Denny joined Marsh in 1989 and brings extensive global experience to his new role, having worked in the UK, U.S., and international insurance markets. Most recently, he served as CEO of FINPRO, UK, for three years, managing the management liability, financial services, professional liability, cyber, and specie risk teams. He also advised leading professional service firms and financial institutions, including numerous FTSE100 companies, on their professional risk programs.

Beth Thurston

Thurston will succeed Denny as the CEO of FINPRO, UK. Based in London, she will report to Dominic Samengo-Turner, CEO, UK, Marsh Specialty. A key member of Marsh Specialty’s UK FINPRO leadership, Thurston has worked for Marsh for 12 years and currently leads the UK management liability team. A solicitor of the Supreme Court of England and Wales before joining Marsh, Thurston specialized in insurance and reinsurance litigation at a London laws firm for more than 14 years.

Stephanie Manson

Manson will succeed Thurston as UK Management Liability leader. Based in London, she will report to Thurston. Manson joined Marsh in 2019 and is currently chief client officer for Management Liability and head of Directors’ and Officers’ Product. Before joining Marsh, Manson was head of Commercial Institutions, UK, at AIG. She also previously worked as a lawyer in Washington D.C., specializing in insurance disputes.
