Liberty Specialty Markets Promotes Edwards to Lead New Delegated Authority Practice

Liberty Specialty Markets (LSM), part of Liberty Mutual Insurance Group, announced the promotion of Lewis Edwards to the newly created role of head of Delegated Authority Practice (DAP).

Edwards reports to Mike Gosselin, chief underwriting officer – Specialty, and Melanie O’Neill, chief underwriting officer – Commercial. He will remain based in London.

The DAP is a new division created for LSM’s delegated authority insurance business written in London. It brings together large coverholders, delegated authority underwriting, governance and management into a single center of excellence.

Edwards is responsible for leading the development of LSM’s underwriting offering within several lines: specialty binders – property, casualty and environmental impairment liability (EIL), legal indemnities, and large coverholders. The heads of these lines will report directly to Edwards. The DAP will provide additional service, oversight, and support to delegated authority business embedded in other classes. Edwards remains responsible for LSM’s accident & health and contingency portfolios.

Edwards joined LSM in 2018 and has over 20 years of experience in the industry covering a wide range of roles. Prior to his promotion he was Head of the Specialty Binders within LSM.

BHSI Promotes Claims Executives Barker and Kelleher in the UK

Berkshire Hathaway Specialty Insurance (BHSI) announced it has named Ben Barker as head of Claims, UK, and Maeve Kelleher as head of Executive & Professional Lines Claims, UK.

Barker, who has nearly two decades of industry experience, joined BHSI in 2018. Prior to his promotion, he was head of Executive & Professional Lines Claims for the UK. Maeve joined BHSI in 2019 and has more than a decade of industry experience. She was previously senior claims director, Executive & Professional Lines, UK at BHSI.

Barker and Kelleher continue to be based in London.
