Marsh, the insurance brokerage business of Marsh McLennan, announced that it has acquired Fontana Rava-Toscano & Partners (FRT), a Milan-based insurance brokerage.
Terms of the acquisition were not disclosed.
Founded in 1992 by the current partners together with Giancarlo Fontana Rava, FRT is a prominent property/casualty insurance broker and risk consulting firm, which has a long history of serving middle-market organizations – many of which operate internationally – in key sectors including industrial and manufacturing, financial institutions, and aviation. FRT also specializes in employee benefits and financial risks.
As part of the transaction, FRT will now operate as Marsh FRT.
FRT’s partners – Stefano Toscano, Paolo Vigo, Edoardo Poss, and Nicolò Fontana Rava – will focus on expanding clients’ ambitions in the middle market through collaborating with Marsh McLennan’s other businesses: Guy Carpenter, Mercer, and Oliver Wyman.
“The acquisition of FRT is an important step in the ambitious expansion strategy we have for our business in Italy,” commented Flavio Piccolomini, CEO, Marsh McLennan International.
“FRT is widely recognized for its exceptional reputation, expertise and consulting skills, and the addition of its highly complementary capabilities will enable us to deepen the specialist expertise we provide to clients across Italy,” he added.
“After 30 successful years of providing tailored brokerage solutions to organizations across key sectors, this transaction will enable our clients to access Marsh’s global capabilities and services,” Toscano said.
